Choosing No-Fault & Material Damage Coverages
Listed below are brief descriptions of no-fault and material damage coverages to assist you in the quoting process. There are many additional coverages available that we will cover after the quoting process has begun. Liability & Property Damage
Bodily Injury
Coverage, up to the limit stated in the Policy Declarations, is provided for accidental bodily injury to others when an insured is legally liable. Bodily Injury damages include bodily harm and death. Payment is also available for defense and court costs for covered claims.
Property Damage
Coverage, up to the limit stated in the Policy Declarations, is provided when an insured is legally liable for physical damage to tangible property or others as a result of any one accident occurring outside Michigan.
Uninsured Motorist
This coverage allows you to recover bodily injury damages due to an accident where the other party does not have insurance, and they are found legally liable.
Underinsured Motorist
This coverage allows you to recover bodily injury damages due to an accident where the other party is found legally liable and does not have adequate liability limits, and the damages exceed the economic losses normally covered by your personal protection.
Personal Injury Protection
Pays for injuries to you and your family members regardless of who is at fault. It may also pay for the income you lose as a result of your injuries and for the financial support your dependents require should you die from your injuries. These benefits follow you in other vehicles.
Property Protection Insurance – ($1,000,000)
Pays for damages, regardless of fault, done by your car to property, Parked vehicles, or fixed properties such as buildings etc. This coverage applies to those damages that occur in the state of Michigan.
Special Tort Liability (Minitort)
If you are involved in an accident in which you are considered more than 50% at fault, this coverage protects you for up to $1000 toward another driver’s collision deductible – or if they do not posses collision coverage, up to $1000 in damages.
Comprehensive
Pays up to the actual cash value of your vehicle, less the deductible, for almost any cause except collision. Examples are: fire, theft, hail, falling objects, flood, vandalism, deer or other animals that collide with your vehicle.
Forms of Collision
Pays up to the actual cash value of your vehicle, less the deductible, for collision. There are three types of collision coverage available in Michigan.
Broadform Collision
Pays for damage to your vehicle regardless of fault. If you are not more than 50% at fault, the deductible will be waived.
Standard Collision
With Standard Collision you always, always, always pay your deductible. Pays for damage to your vehicle regardless of fault, subject to the deductible chosen.
Limited Collision
Pays for damage to your vehicle only if the driver of your vehicle is not more than 50% at fault.
